As a Humanist officiant, I can legally marry any couple who have a valid marriage license in Ontario, Canada - it does not matter if you are from two different religions or if you are a same-sex couple. A Humanist wedding ceremony highlights the love of the couple without the need for religion.
From a wedding to a celebration of life, anyone attending a milestone event should feel included and it is the job of the Humanist officiant to set the tone. Since there are no guidelines to a Humanist event, each one will be exclusive to the individual or individuals who are being celebrated.
Humanists base their lives on their ethics rather than superstitions or organized religions. They believe in equal rights for all individuals no matter your race, religion, or sexual orientation. Humanists believe that we only have one life to live, so make the best of it and treat everyone with the dignity and respect they deserve.
